Beth Johnson has 15 years of research and program evaluation experience. She received her PhD in Child
Development and Family Relationships from the University of Texas at Austin in 2000. Since then, she has
worked as an independent consultant providing external evaluation services to schools and community
organizations. Her evaluation practice includes work on early intervention programs, parenting skills,
professional development, reading, museum youth programs, and the integration of technology into the
school curriculum. She applies both qualitative and quantitative methods, working collaboratively to
design and implement evaluations focused on user needs.

Michelle B. Burd, PhD, is a research and evaluation consultant with over 20 years experience. Michelle
communicates directly with project staff to collaborate on an evaluation design. She works in educational
settings and nonprofit organizations and has expertise in teacher quality, leadership, organizational
learning, systemic change, professional development, student outcomes, and school improvement. To
understand how organizational components work together, she has talked with teachers, listened to
principals, observed classroom instruction, surveyed leaders, and studied local contexts. Michelle's
systematic research and insightfulness are great assets to promote improvement in social programs.
